Freelance Digital Marketing Services: Senior Support Without Hiring Full-Time

Brainstorming session for marketers
Getting an extra hand for marketing support can prove very lucrative.

A lot of companies do not have a marketing problem. They have a capacity problem, a clarity problem, or often a “who actually owns this?” problem.

The website needs updates and paid campaigns need reviewing. SEO needs structure, Google Ads needs someone to look beyond surface metrics and the beloved CRM needs improved and/or new flows but hiring full-time may not make sense yet.

Digital Marketing made easy

I work as a freelance digital marketing consultant and contractor for companies that need marketing support without adding a permanent full-time role.

My background is broad, which means I can move between strategy and implementation. I can look at performance data, write or edit content, work in a CMS, develop new conversion points, review campaigns, coordinate with stakeholders, improve reporting and help turn vague marketing needs into practical next steps.

The reason I like digital marketing is that it quickly reveals friction. Search data shows what people want, CTR shows whether the message is compelling and whether the page or offer is doing its job. CRM performance shows whether leads are being followed up properly and analytics often show where teams are guessing instead of deciding.

The case for senior help

Website, blog and SEO is now the single highest-ROI channel for B2B marketers, and around 92% plan to hold or grow that investment. The channel works — the constraint is usually having someone senior to run it.

That's the "who actually owns this?" problem I'm brought in to solve, without the cost of a full-time hire.

My work can include:

I especially enjoy working with companies where marketing cannot sit in a silo. Many performance issues are not caused by one channel alone. A Google Ads campaign may struggle because the landing page is weak, while SEO may underperform because content is too generic or not matching the search intent. Likewise, a CRM flow may fail because the message does not match the user’s original intent. A report may show numbers but not what to do next.

Worth knowing

Content-led marketing generates roughly 3× the leads of outbound at about 62% less cost — but only when SEO, content, CRM and the website are pulling in the same direction.

Connecting those pieces is where most performance is won or lost. It's also where I spend most of my time.

How can a marketing contractor setup look like?

I can work in a few different setups:

  • Ad hoc consulting when you need an experienced second opinion
  • Project-based work for audits, launches, content projects or account reviews
  • Monthly retainers for ongoing support
  • Part-time contractor setups where I become a regular part of the team

Indicative pricing depends on scope, but common ranges are:

  • Hourly consulting: €75–€110/hour
  • Half-day advisory or review session: €300–€450
  • Project-based audits or reviews: from €750
  • Monthly support: from €1,000/month
  • Part-time contractor setup: quoted based on hours, scope and responsibility

For companies that need more focused search support, I have a separate post about SEO, SEA and SEM consulting. For companies that need content, editing or production experience as part of the marketing work, see my post on media production and content.

Common questions
How is this different from hiring an agency or a full-time marketer?

You get senior, hands-on help without the cost or commitment of a permanent hire — and without an agency layer between you and the work. I can move between strategy and implementation depending on what the week actually needs.

Can you both advise and do the work?

Yes. I can read performance data, write or edit content, work in a CMS, review campaigns, improve reporting and coordinate with stakeholders — turning vague marketing needs into practical next steps.

Can you work alongside our existing team or agency?

Often, yes. I especially like setups where marketing can't sit in a silo — coordinating across teams and agencies, or filling a specific senior gap, is usually where the value is.

Are you available for new work right now?

Yes — I'm currently taking on new clients. The best first step is a short message about what you're dealing with, and we can work out whether ad-hoc advice, a project, or ongoing support fits best. Contact me.

When and how do you work?

I work in CET/CEST with flexible hours, so aligning with teams across Europe (and often other time zones) is rarely a problem. Most work is remote, with occasional onsite within the EU when it genuinely helps. I work in Swedish, Norwegian and English.

How do engagements and pricing work?

A few setups are possible: ad-hoc consulting, project-based work, monthly retainers, or a part-time contractor arrangement where I become a regular part of the team. Indicative pricing (EUR): hourly €75–110; half-day advisory €300–450; projects from €750; monthly from €1,000. Final pricing depends on hours, scope and responsibility.
